Description: Sarracenia "Big Dee" pitcher plant is an extremely ornate complex hybrid made by Jerry Addington. It is visually similar to the hybrid of Sarracenia leucopylla and Sarracenia minor, or S x excellens. It is an exceptionally fast grower and produces leaves abundantly in the spring and fall. Big Dee looks its best in September. Grows to 30 inches tall.
We are currently trialing this hybrid with the intent to offer a limited number of divisions seasonally. It currently has the nickname "Big Dee".
Pitcher Plant Care: Plant in full sun to part shade outdoors. Use peat moss and perlite in a very large planter and keep it wet. In a bog garden, use a mixture of peat moss and sand. It loses its leaves in the winter. Cold hardy to 20F in a pot and 0F in the ground.
