Description: With skinny, exceptionally rigid leaves that can reach 3 feet tall, this is a very unique white top pitcher plant, or Sarracenia leucopylla. The upper portion of the leaves are almost entirely white with thin red veins that extend through the hood. For gardeners hoping to make their own hybrids this is an excellent choice to make some great seedlings.
As with most Leucophylla, expect it’s best foliage in fall.
Pitcher Plant Care: Plant in full sun to part shade outdoors. Use peat moss in a very large planter and keep it wet. In a bog garden, use a mixture of peat moss and sand. It loses its leaves in the winter. Cold hardy to 20F in a pot and 0F in the ground.
