'Red man' is one of the original sarracenia acquired by the legendary Jerry Addington. It has been a staple in his breeding programs. It is thought to be a wild Rosea x Flava hybrid collected by Bromeliad Tree Nursery. The hoods can be very flamboyant with veins running through, giving it a unique look.
'Red man' is a compact, sturdy grower often attaining a height of 8 inches with 3.5 inch hoods. Red leaves emerge in spring and darken throughout the season . It’s sure to be a valued addition to any bog garden.
Culture: Plant in full sun to part shade outdoors. Use peat moss in a very large planter and keep it wet. In a bog garden, use a mixture of peat moss and sand. It loses its leaves in the winter. Cold hardy to 20F in a pot and 0F in the ground.
