Description: Sarracenia "Red man" is one of the original sarracenia acquired by the legendary Jerry Addington. It has been a staple in his breeding programs. It is thought to be a wild Sarracenia rosea, Sarracenia flava hybrid collected by Bromeliad Tree Nursery. The hoods can be very flamboyant with veins running through, giving it a unique look. This would be a great choice to add size and color contrast to a garden.
Sarracenia "Red man" is a compact and sturdy grower. Expect it to reach a height of 8 inches with 3.5 inch hoods. Red leaves emerge in spring and darken throughout the season. It’s sure to be a valued addition to any bog garden. It is rare in cultivation because it is slow to propagate.
Pitcher Plant Care: Plant in full sun to part shade outdoors. Use peat moss and perlite in a very large planter and keep it wet. It loses its leaves in the winter. Cold hardy to 20F in a pot and 0F in the ground.
All plants will ship bare root, without pots and soil.
