Description: This subspecies of the purple pitcher plant is cold hardy to zone 2 and summer hardy to zone 8. It grows best in part shade and with occasional liquid fertilizer directly in the leaves. Plant it in your bog garden behind tall species to provide it with shade. Don't get any fertilizer on the roots.
Pitcher Plant Care: Plant in part shade outdoors. Use peat moss and perlite in a very large planter and keep it wet. It loses its leaves in the winter. Cold hardy to -40F in the ground. It is not summer hardy in zones 9 and above.
All plants will ship bare root, without pots and soil.
