Sarracenia flava var rubricorpora "Special Dark" is our favorite seed-grown flava var. rubricorpora. It is very strong growing. It is also darker than S. 'Black Widow' in the summer! Its red genetics likely come from distant leucophylla ancestry.
S. 'Waccamaw' emerges red in the spring and fades to green/red tones. It likely gets its red genetics from distant purpurea ancestry.
It is extraordinarily rare to find two flava plant parents to that have all red offspring. The combination of these two plant parents yields an unusually high percentage of red flava, likely due to the multiple genetic pathways for red coloration. We love this cross!
