
Description: Sarracenia alata is known as the "pale pitcher plant" because of its light yellow flowers. The leaves of these seedlings have a green and ultra-dark burgundy color scheme. Some people view this color variation as a distinct botanical variety and label it S. alata var. nigropurpurea. These unique seed-grown plant make their best leaves in the fall.
Pitcher Plant Care: Plant in full sun to part shade outdoors. Use peat moss and perlite in a very large planter and keep it wet. It loses its leaves in the winter. Cold hardy to 20F in a pot and 0F in the ground.
