Description: S. 'Black Widow' is a registered cultivar of the hybrid "alata black x flava red". It was produced by Phil Falisi. The cultivar description states that "the red-black colour fills in, turning nearly the entire pitcher a deep, shimmering, maroon. As the season progresses the pitcher colours continue to deepen becoming a deep lustrous purple-black especially around the throat and inner hood, an influence from the S. alata parent. The flowers of this plant are a very pale white-cream.
Pitcher Plant Care: Plant in full sun to part shade outdoors. Use peat moss and perlite in a very large planter and keep it wet. It loses its leaves in the winter. Cold hardy to 20F in a pot and 0F in the ground.
