Description: This item is a bundle of 2-3 unpotted seedlings. They are currently growing under lights, and need to be treated accordingly. Place your order when temperatures are above 40 degrees. They are not "hardened off" and should be grown inside until the chance of frost has passed.
"Okee Giant" or sarracenia minor var. okefenokeensis, is the largest hooded pitcher plant. Its over-sized leaves tower over its diminutive, beautiful yellow flower. This Florida native is an exceptional addition to your pitcher plant garden.
The hooded pitcher plant is distinguished by its remarkable trapping mechanism. It has windows on the back of the leaves to trick flying bugs. It eats them for fertilizer. Yum! Expect an excellent show of thick, tapered tubes in late fall. Grows to 24 inches tall
Pitcher Plant Care: Plant "Okee Giant" in full sun to part shade outdoors. Use peat moss in a very large planter and keep it wet. In a bog garden, use a mixture of peat moss and sand. It loses its leaves in the winter. Cold hardy to 20F in a pot and 0F in the ground.
